How close are you to Algonquin Park?

We are a 15-minute drive from the East Gate, the entrance to the trails, museums and visitor facilities. Actually, if you paddle across our lake you are in the Park, but you will want to drive there to take advantage of its facilities.

Where can we get groceries?

There is a grocery store 15 minutes away in Whitney, the village at the East Gate entrance to Algonquin Park.

What if we don’t want to cook?

It's always nice to take a night off from the kitchen. We recommend The Mad Musher in Whitney for a great hamburger. For a special meal, we can make reservations at Killarney Lodge. If you prefer to stay in, we offer a Dinner Room Service. See our menu, including gluten-free options!

Do you allow smoking?

All our cabins are non-smoking. However, we provide ashtrays on the screened porches and guests may smoke there.

Can we have campfires?

There is a campfire pit on the point and we provide wood.

What about laundry?

We know that many of our guests are on touring holidays. We are happy to provide laundry service for a basketful of clothing, but large quantities should be done at the laundromat in Bancroft.

Do you allow pets?

A difficult decision, but the quiet of Hay Lake Lodge & Cottages is best suited to a no pet policy.

Do you have internet? Mobile coverage?

There is free wi-fi in the cabins and a computer station in the Lodge. We have coverage for Bell, Telus and Rogers/Fido, but you may have to adjust your position to get a good connection. Remember though, that internet speeds in the country are not like connections in the city. We take it slow out here.

Is it quiet there?

We are a small cottage resort with lots of privacy for our guests. Often people can’t tell that we are full. Because it is so peaceful here, sound does carry. We ask that our guests remember after 10:30pm is quiet time.
