Things to Do

Fishing

Hay Lake is the perfect spot for avid anglers and those willing to try. The lake is great for catching lake trout, smallmouth or largemouth bass and walleye (pickerel). With water depths ranging from 4-110 feet, there is habitat for a wide variety of fish.

We have a Shimano rod and reel you can borrow if you don’t have your own gear. Hay Lake is 16 kilometres (11 miles) long with miles of broken rocky shoreline, many islands and numerous bays. We can provide you with a map of the lake and suggestions on spots to try.

Fishing Season

For the most up-to-date fishing regulations, check out the Ontario Fishing Regulations for Fisheries Management Zone 15 (FMZ 15).

Boat Rentals

We have  one 16-foot aluminum boat with 8hp motor available for rent, in addition to our free canoes and kayaks. The operator must have an Ontario Pleasure Craft License or out-of-province equivalent to rent a boat.

Cost: $175per day

Have your own boat?

There is a public boat launch on Hay Lake just around the bend from the lodge. Our beach is shallow and sandy, so those with a 4-wheel drive should have no problem launching from here. Docking is included with your stay and there are hookups for charging batteries.
