We are looking for a team-player to join our staff at our seasonal lodge on Hay Lake at the edge of Algonquin Provincial Park. Spend your summer in a setting full of quiet and beauty, surrounded by nature. Our guests are friendly, the cabins are beautiful, and the lake view is outstanding.
This is an ideal opportunity to learn all aspects of the housekeeping resort business. The work is full of variety, beginning with spring cleaning for re-opening when we’re given the go-ahead, and ending in mid-October with closing down for the winter. You will be cleaning, but also involved in front desk operations, reservations, marina maintenance, and guest relations. The position is available in May, but start and end dates are flexible to accommodate school schedules.
Working five days a week, the job includes accommodation in a small private cabin with kitchen on the property (more details below), and at various times involves:
Our cabins are known for their spotlessness. We are looking team players with a strong work ethic and the ability to notice what needs doing. You will enjoy the job better if you have a vehicle to explore the area on your days off, but this is not a requirement. The staff is small at our resort, and everyone interacts to some degree with our guests, so a positive attitude and a willingness to be flexible and work together are important.
Hay Lake Lodge and Cottages (haylakelodge.com) is a small, secluded, family-run resort lodge on the Eastern border of Algonquin Provincial Park in South Algonquin.
There are six lakefront knotty-pine cabins varying in size from one to four bedrooms, all including linens and a fully equipped kitchen. Our guests come from across North America and the world to "get away from it all" and enjoy some quiet relaxation. While there is WiFi on the property, cell phone reception is spotty.
We take pride in the personal touch we bring to our business, and the immaculate standards we maintain in the cabins for our guests.
We have a small, friendly, and hard-working staff who help to make Hay Lake Lodge and Cottages the experience that it is for our guests.
There is a small private cabin on the property you are welcome to stay in while you're with us at no charge. It includes a bedroom, a washroom, a kitchen and living area, and a screened-in front porch. It is rustic, but is clean and has everything you need. Some have used the space for creative endeavours, such as jewellery making or painting, while others have enjoyed it as a private place to have a cup of coffee and read a book.
When you are not working you are welcome to use the canoes or kayaks, swim, hike the trails near the property, go into town, or enjoy all the Algonquin Park has to offer (we have a season's pass you are welcome to use).
Like everyone else, we have had to adjust our business to the realities of COVID-19. Our first priority is keeping our staff and our guests safe, observing strict sanitization and contactless service protocols. We will train you in industry-specific COVID-19 safety measures. This includes frequently sanitizing high-touch areas, not entering guest cabins except to clean and sanitize between visits, ensuring guests have their own specific canoes and kayaks, etc.
We provide staff shirts and PPE.
Please email us with your resume to erin@haylakelodge.com or call us at 1-613-637-2675 and ask to speak with Erin.
