Algonquin Spring,
Algonquin Winter
For years guests have asked what Winter is like at Hay Lake. I have described the winter sun on the birches, the dune-like snow on the lake, the snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
Now it is possible to experience this magical time. Cosy up by the wood stove, or hike up to the wall of ice - winter is special at Hay Lake!
But an Algonquin Spring has a magic of its own! To be here during Ice Out, or see the carpets of trout lilies and spring flowers on the forest floor before the tree canopy fills out, to feel the first spring warmth (before the bugs!) -
The Birches is available for Winter in January and February.
The Algonquin Spring is short - late April and the first weeks of May.
The Birches - perfect for Algonquin's Spring or Winter
A cheery wood stove in the living room with plenty of heat from the gas furnace.
Flannel sheets to keep you cozy, and wi-fi if you have to check in with the outside world.
A deck for sitting in the sun, enjoying the warmth
We have an Algonquin Park pass to snowshoe or ski their trails in Winter, or hike in the Spring or check out the Visitor Centre.
We have snowshoes for you to use if you’d like to try. A trail right outside your door to explore - maybe you’ll see a moose track!
